Brian is the owner of Power Rack Strength, best selling author of 10/20/Life and the Gift of Injury and a McGill Method Practitioner based out of Jacksonville, FL. They discuss: Find Brian: IG - @briancarroll1306 Website: www.powerrackstrength.com McGill Method: www.backfitpro.com Online Coaching: https://www.powerrackstrength.com/online-coaching/ __________ Brian is a retired world-class powerlifter with over 2 decades of world-class powerlfting. He’s totaled 2600 over 20 times in 2 different weight classes in his career. With 60 squats of 1000lbs or more officially, this is the most in powerlifting history, regardless of weight class or federation, by anyone not named David Hoff. Most recently, Brian retired in 2020 after setting the World Record in the squat with 1306, being the first person to cross the 1300 squat barrier. After years of back pain and failed therapy, Brian met with world-renowned back specialist Prof McGill in 2013, which changed his trajectory more than he could have imagined. In 2017, Brian Carroll and Prof McGill authored the best-selling book about Brian’s triumphant comeback to powerlifting in Gift of Injury. Most recently (10.3.20), Brian set the highest squat of all time (regardless of weight class) with 1306 lbs – being the first man to break the 1300lb squat barrier at a bodyweight of 303 lbs. Brian’s impressive recovery has allowed him to teach and deliver talks to physical therapists, chiropractors, medical doctors, professional strength & conditioning coaches, and experts from all facets of sport on how to minimize injury risk while building anti-fragile strength and resilience in athletes. Brian has worked with and consulted athletes and coaches in the UFC, NFL, NBA, and NHL. He also works with Army and Navy Special Forces. He has played a crucial part in dozens of records broken in powerlifting, whether coaching, diet, supplementation help, or weight-cutting tactics. Brian’s mission now post powerlifting retirement after 20 years competing is to help as many people as possible avoid the same mistakes he made with treating his injury and give hope to those who don’t have any once they find out that the medical system is set up to treat them, not cure them. Brian is here to bridge the gap with real-world reality and experience only someone who destroyed their back and rose back to the top can understand. Brian has empathy for the back-injured person, as he’s lived it. Brian was taught and coached by and is constantly learning from Prof. Stu McGill as his mentor. Brian is the McGill Certified provider for Florida, located in Jacksonville, FL, where he owns his own private coaching and consulting practice, working with everyone from Average Joe’s to Athletes to Pro. __________ Paul's singular goal is to raise the bar for coaching.
